• What is Alopecia Areata?

  Sudden or sometimes unrecognized falling out of hair in patches or spots.

• Affected area are usually lighter in color due to the poor blood supply to the area.

• Size from 1/8 inches to 4 inches in diameter.

• Approximately two million Americans suffers from this hair loss.

• The cause is unknown but there is evidence it could be a breakdown of the immune system resulting in what is called an autoimmune disorder.

• Heredity also plays a factor in this hair loss. One out of five people with alopecia areata comes from someone else in the family.
